Hey Everyone!

There was a lock-in planned for this weekend at our church. We had planned on attending, but our cousins are coming! It's a surprise visit, but not unpleasantly so. This might be the last time we get to see the Miles before they go to Scotland.

We're very excited to see them!

Mom and Daddy picked up a free entertainment center tonight and went out to dinner. The kids all stayed home watched The Great Mouse Detective. Afterwards Jacey read alittle bit of Geronimo Stilton to Seth and the other boys played Legos until bedtime.

It's been raining off and on the past few days, but no torrential down pours.

We're looking forward to the Storers coming more than ever!

This weekend has been very eventful.

Youth pheasant hunting season was this weekend. Holden and Daddy went on a youth hunt with a guide and dog, and another boy and his Dad. The other boy shot a pheasant and the dog got one before it could fly up. Holden shot the first bird that he flushed. It came up right at his feet and flew over his head. He dropped it with the first shot. We're all very proud of Holden.

While Holden and Daddy were hunting Ian and Seth both played their soccer games. Seth took a little while to warm up, but he played great the second half of the game. Ian's team won 5-1 and Ian scored the first goal.

After the boys' games we went tag saleing. We found a pair of snow pants for Holden and some tack for Zora.

We came home and then Holden flew kites while the boys played.

Jacey has finished Seth and Ian's costumes for the Trunk-or-treat party at our church. Holden's is still proving to be the hardest to visualize. We'll see how it comes out.

Holden came down with a cold this morning and therefore didn't go to church with us. We all missed him.

Ian is still collecting every type of coin and currency he can get his hands on.

Seth is being Seth. He enjoys doing several math pages almost everyday.

We're SO excited that our friends, the Storers, are coming out to see us in two weeks. We can't wait!

Hello Everyone!

It warmed up here and we've had no more frost. The trees seem to have slowed down changing colors a small amount.

We've all been busy with school.

The Mrs. Wilde and the three oldest children came over today to see us do school. Mrs. Wilde is very interested about home-schooling and they'll probably be schooling the kids at home soon. YAY!!!

After school the older kids went outside and played soccer.

Ian's learning piano now, and Holden has picked his guitar back up after taking a break while we were getting settled in.

We don't usually take part in Halloween celebrations, but our church is using Halloween as a way to reach the community. It's hosting a Trunk-or-Treat party in the parking lot. Daddy has decided that we can host a trunk, We're going to decorate the Suburban as a castle and we're all going to dress up. Holden is going as a ranger, Ian as a monk, Seth as a knight, and Jacey as a lady or princess.

Jacey has been hard at work on their costumes and Ian's is done and Seth's is almost done.

The Suburban is the shop,. still trying to pass inspection. Because of this we're down to one vehicle. So far it hasn't hindered us.

Hello Everyone,

Fall is finally here. We had our first frost this morning and there was ice on the windows upstairs. The locals say that the trees are turning about 2 or 3 weeks early this year. Hopefully this winter will not be too hard on us.

Jacey is the only one with a bad cold still. Maybe it's the swine flu! Or maybe it's the normal flu, there's not much difference.

Holden has been reading everything he can get his hands on.

Ian has started reading the Boxcar Children Mysteries. He just finished Mystery Ranch.

Seth spent most of the afternoon building a house for Monkey. Monkey is a little toy monkey that he got from McDonald's.

Daddy took the older boys fishing this afternoon and they caught a few small fish. They also found a few old railroad spikes.

We're all getting settled into the new house. The stairs are still posing the biggest threat to our well-being. Holden and Ian have both fallen down them. Jacey and Seth have escaped misfortune on the stairway for the time being.

Hello Everyone,
The the family went to the boys soccer games this morning, with the exception of Jacey who stayed in bed with her cold.
Ian won his game and both scored a goal for his team and kept the team from making another point when he was goalie. Ian also got hit in the face with the ball during war, up time, but doesn't appear to be any worse for the wear. Seth played and, of course, had fun.
Daddy and Holden are at a pre-hunt right now. Holden is signed up for a youth pheasant hunt that will take place next weekend and they had to attend a pre-hunt 'course' this weekend.
Mom, Seth, and Ian are outside working on a garden plot for next year.
Jacey received her score for her English Composition with Essay CLEP today. She scored a 62.
Since staying in bed didn't help her feel any better, Jacey decided to go outside and build a fort. After hauling pallets and wood boards around for part of the morning, she felt no better, but she did have a pretty neat place of her own. The boys still have no clue where it is and will be left in their ignorance for the time being.
We have church tomorrow. We didn't go last week because of Daddy being gone and there being no Sunday School. It would not have been worth the 2 hour round trip. The reason there was no Sunday school was because they are redoing to sanctuary and class rooms. It will be interesting to see what progress they have made when we go back.
Our friends the Wilde's are coming over on Monday. They are seriously thinking about home-schooling and wanted to see how a typical home-schooler's day went. Well, how a Daughton's typical school day went anyway.

Hello everyone,

Today has been a full one. Mom and Dad took the the cars to get inspected today. The Camry passed, the suburban did not. The 'Burb' apparently has a problem with the EGR valve. This is the same problem we were having with it in Missouri and supposedly was fixed. God is good to us that we discovered this on the weekend. If we had discovered in during the week, the car would have been illegal to drive, but since it's the weekend, we're fine till Monday.

On the way to MA for Jacey's CLEP test we stopped at a rummage sale. Yard sales and Garage sales are very rare here. They have 'tag' sales and rummage sales instead. Anyway, we found some winter clothes and then were on our way again to Berkshire Community College.

Jacey passed the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP test with a 68. The CollegeBoard's scoring is a bit of an enigma, but as far as we can tell, this would translate into a strong B or B+.

On the way home from the CLEP, we stopped at a library which a fellow home-school family had recommended. The library is in Pittsfield, MA, so it's between 30 and 45 minutes away from us. It has more technology and a better selection of books than the Bennington or North Bennington library. We all got library cards and Seth got to write his own name on his. The children have separate library cards from the adults and are of different designs and colors.

We also stopped at a discount grocer on the way home so Mom could run in and look. she found a pair of pants for Holden and some good deals on more edible items.

On our way home through North Bennington we stopped at the McCullough library so Mom and Ian could pick up a book and some magazines.

We're all home now and Ian and Seth are playing outside. Mom is getting dinner ready and Daddy is on his way home. Holden is doing school.

We have movie night tonight and are going to watch the Absent-Minded Professor.

Seth today said he wanted to change his name, to Hobbes Daughton, in honor of Calvin's stuffed tiger in the Calvin and Hobbes comic. He also has decided to become a security gaurd lik his uncle and is still intent on moving out with Jacey.

Hello Everyone,
It's been a little crazy the past few days. Mom and Jacey still have colds, but Mom's is worse than Jacey's. Daddy also hurt his leg somehow in Colorado.
The boys are in full health, spirits, and trouble.
Ian had soccer practice tonight and we all went. Holden and Seth played on the playground and Mom and Jacey talked to another homeschooling mom who we had met at the homeschool park day.
It's in the upper 50's right now and will get into the 40's tonight. There's also 72% humidity. That's pretty normal for the whole day. Vermont and New York are almost as humid as Missouri. Hard to imagine, we know. There's a chance of rain tomorrow, but we'll see.

Hello Everyone,

There really hasn't been much to blog about lately. Daddy is still in Colorado and will be back tomorrow. We can't wait!

We all have colds to some degree, so we haven't gone anywhere or done anything worth writing about. And there are defintely not any pictures. How exciting would that be, a bunch of snapshots of people sleeping on the couch or sniffling in bed. Very flattering pictures to be sure.

Our schedule has been filling up since we've been here. Ian has soccer practice every Wednesday, and both boys have games on Saturday. Seth has practice Saturday morning before his game. Shape-note or Sacred Harp singing is every third Tuesday and Jacey has practice with the Battenkill Chorale every Thursday. Sunday is, of course, church and then we all usually go shoot archery in the afternoon.

There are probably a few other things, but with a cold-stuffed head I can't think of htem right now.

Hello everyone,
The soccer games did not get rained out this morning and both boys really enjoyed themselves. Seth is starting to get the hang of soccer.

Ian played hard and well. He even made a goal!


We went to the library book sale and Mom and the Boys found a few things.
We also Skyped Daddy and our Uncle Jeff and Cousin Riley today. That was really fun.
We hope all of our Buffalo friends had tons of fun at the Celtic Festival!

Hello,
Yesterday we went to the park day. It was raining and cold, but we anyway. Only one other family showed up, but they were really nice and had two boys. All the boys played tag and had a great time. The family also raises guide dogs for the blind.
The mom had a little yellow lab puppy with her and told us all about it. It sounds really neat, and Daddy is actually thinking about letting us do it. You have to go through a few training courses, then you get put on a waiting list. After you get your puppy, you have it for about 18 months, or until it 'graduates'. During this time you take it to two training classes a month and work with it on basic commands and exposing it to different atmospheres. When this is done, they take the dog back, complete it's training and pair it with a blind person.
Daddy is still gone on business and we miss him. He'll be back soon though.
Well, we're about to go to Ian's soccer game. Hopefully the fields aren't too muddy. Then from the game, we're going to the library booksale. YAY!!!

Yesterday we went to the McCullough Library in North Bennington and the Bennington Library in Bennington. We had no idea, but the Bennington Library's open house was that day. The library was a little bit more crowded than usual, but there were snacks and Seth got his picture taken with Eco, the traveling Moose statue.





Jacey joined the Battenkill Chorale and enjoyed the first rehearsal. They are singing Brahms Requiem in German; it is a stunning piece of music.
After lunch we're going to go down to a park in Bennington to have a 'play-day' and meet some new home-schoolers. Hopefully we'll meet some like-minded friends.

Hello Everyone!

Daddy left this evening for a business trip. We'll miss him very much and can't wait till he gets back.

Ian had his first soccer practice this evening. He really enjoyed it and is looking forward to his game on Saturday.

Before Daddy left for Colorado, he and Mom went to Fort Edward to register the cars and get New York Licenses.

The biggest news of all is that Holden is finally taller than Jacey, by a quarter of an inch.

Hello everyone,
Sorry there have been very few up-to-date pictures. We really haven't done much worth taking pictures of, and the stuff we have done that would be great for pictures, we forget all the cameras.
Today Jacey and Mom worked on getting some pictures taken of some merchandise for their Esty store and posted a few items.
Daddy took the boys fishing down on the Walloomsac and the Hoosick Rivers. Holden caught two fish, and Ian didn't catch any. Perhaps that's why it's called fishing, not catching.
Jacey took apart an old hand-me-down dress to make a new pattern.
After the boys got home, Holden and Ian played Lord of the Rings:Return of the King on Holden's GameCube and beat a level or two.
After a dinner of calzones, we had chocolate muffins with chocolate icing. The icing was a little more purpleish-black, than brown because we made it from mixing all the leftover icing together to get a brown of sorts. We then added cocoa powder to the icing. It was interesting.

Hello everyone,
Not much has been happening here.
We went up to the archery range and shot our bows last night. Holden is sharing Mom's bow now Daddy's bow is working again.
We also had movie night last night and watched Benji the Hunted. Mom and Dad both fell asleep and only Seth really enjoyed it.
This morning the boys helped Dad with Zora's pasture and Jacey and Mom ran to a few Tag Sales, as the yard sales are called here. They found a few Christmas presents for some people and a few books. They also found a great trigger release for Jacey to use with her bow.

There really hasn't been much going on here to blog about.
Daddy played Volleyball tonight and his team won.
The boys have been doing school. Nothing exciting there.
Jacey is studying for the Analyzing and Interpreting Lit. CLEP test and the U.S. History II test right after that one.
It hasn't rained alot, but it is getting colder already. A few of the trees are starting to turn colors and it is in the lower fifties to mid-forties at night.
We are going on a hike with a the Crisses and maybe another family. Perhaps we'll make some friends in our area.

Hello all,
The blogging from now on has the potential to be a bit sparce due to a keyboard that is acting up and shorting out.
Yesterday we had the Wilde's over. They have five children under the age of twelve, so it was a little busy here, but we all still had fun. Justin brought his little dirt bike and Daddy and Mr. Wilde fixed the chain. After that the boys had fun riding on it. Jacey read umpteen stories to Kayla, the four year old, and made a necklace and bracelet with Rhianna, the five year old. Rhianna and Seth had fun riding Seth's electric four-wheeler around the yard. Rhianna said that Seth has hair like hers. They do look like they could be siblings.
The best part of hte night was probably desert. Mr. Wilde made an AWESOME home-made cheesecake. It was REALLY good.
Jacey took her CLEP test this morning. She'll get her results in a few weeks. We had to drive through 3 states to get to BCC (Berkshire Community College). New York, where we live, Vermont, and part of Massachusetts.
On the way back we stopped at Balancing Rocks State Park in MA. It was pretty neat. The rocks have a lot of graffiti on them, but the trails seemed really nice.
